Kirsten Gilder - screenprinter textile artist
Kirsten is a screen printer, creating original prints, patterns and hand-crafted textiles.
Her playful printing techniques gives her work its unique style; each piece is individually printed so no two prints are ever the same. This also allows her creative freedom to modify or introduce new elements to her designs.
Her inspiration has a focus on linear or structural repetition which is recreated by over printing textures and bold shapes in multiple layers of colours.
Isabella Lepri - ceramics
Isabella’s work is wheel-thrown stoneware, chosen for its properties of durability and strength. Inspired by the rocks and lichens of the Cumbrian fells, her new GOLD collection of vessels combine the rough crackled texture of lichen glaze with the liquid magic of real gold lustre.
Her work develops organically on the wheel and designs emerge from the negotiation with the materials. This is as much a physical as a rational creative process.
She is a member of the Eden Valley Artistic Network and of the Northern Potters Association.
Mary Kennedy - artist
‘RAM WORKSHOP’
Mary Kennedy is an artist who paints landscapes and domestic scenes, and translates her imagery onto wooden boxes and trays etc.
Mary is part of RAM Workshop with her husband Richard. She is a member of the core group who organise this annual exhibition.
Her painting is full of detail, light and colour, as well as humour.
Ivy Makers - leather
Ivy Makers Guild began as the collaboration between a married couple, designing and making work together.
Albat, who specialises in leather design and craft, uses a mixture of traditional and modern techniques to form objects from responsibly sourced leather, which will pass the test of time. Every piece shows his careful work and attention to detail. His wife Alex’s artistic touch can be seen through surface design and details that complement Albat's sturdy leatherwork.
Together, they create durable and beautiful pieces that reflect their shared passion for materiality. The Guild represents their combined talents and commitment to creating quality items with purpose.
Ivy Makers Guild today, is a popular little shop in the heart of Aspatria, West Cumbria, which acts as a platform to showcase not only their own creations in leather, ceramics and fine art, but also the work of many other local Cumbrian makers and artists.

Tricia Meynell - abstract photographer
“It’s all about the light” (a quote I stole from an artist friend, Mark Gibbs). He’s correct - light is SO important in any image and its lack or presence can dictate the whole feel of the scene.
I use my camera as a sort of ‘digital paintbrush’ - preferring to make work that borders on the imaginary but which actually comes straight from the camera without fiddling around with technology.
For me, the beauty of an image is dependent on being able to ‘read into’ it - not necessarily seeing it for what the reality was, but for what I would like to see in my mind. Much of my work is created by moving the camera in a controlled way whilst shooting, relying on relatively ‘bad weather’ or at least dull or darkened skies to enable long exposures and a chance to sweep the camera across the horizon…..often resulting in rather strange looks from passers by.
My love of being in, on, or around water is evident in my imagery. Fortunately, living in Cumbria, there’s lots of it!

Roseanna Bellwood - printmaker
A love of nature, specifically plants and wildflowers, is the main inspiration behind my work.
I create etchings and monoprints to capture detail and texture, then hand paint with watercolour.
The monoprints are made using plants, leaves, feathers or whatever catches my eye when out walking, or in my garden. The most unassuming plants often make the most interesting prints. The unpredictability of printmaking in this way is what I particularly enjoy.
My studio is based in the Eden Valley, Cumbria

Christine Kirkpatrick - mixed media artist
Christine Kirkpatrick lives and works from her home studio on the north side of Carlisle, a place where creativity and inspiration flow freely.
Her inspiration comes from the world around her—nature, life occurrences, people, emotions, and the subtleties of everyday experiences. She embraces the joy of experimentation, striving to break traditional rules and push boundaries to discover new ways of creating.
Christine’s medium of choice is mixed media, which offers her the creative freedom she craves. Unrestricted by conventional approaches, she finds joy in the limitless possibilities that mixed media provides—allowing her to merge textures, colours, and materials in unique and innovative ways. For Christine, art is not about conforming but about liberating the imagination and giving voice to her inner world.
Christine Kirkpatrick’s journey is a testament to the enduring power of creativity and resilience. From her early days in fashion design to her current explorations in mixed media, she has embraced change and growth at every stage. Through her work, Christine continues to inspire others to see the beauty in experimentation and the boundless possibilities of artistic expression.
"My aim in ceramics is to make objects that arrest attention and invite handling. I take an experimental approach to materials and making that is both interrogatory and celebratory. As well as the visual, I pay close attention to the tactile nature of the materials I use and the sculpture and vessels I make and to their changing nature through time.
Consistent avenues of exploration include light and shade, simplicity and complexity, and group dynamics. I’m continuing experimenting with basic forms and their variations.
Based in Brampton, Northeast Cumbria, I'm a regular exhibitor at local events and galleries. I've also shown work in galleries in Northern and Southwest England, Venice and Montreal. I'm a member of Eden Valley Artistic Network (EVAN), Northern Potters Association and Bensham Grove Pottery.
I have a BA in modern languages and an MA in Southeast Asia Area Studies. After working in the fields of education and environmental justice, I studied ceramics at Newcastle College, completing a FdA in Contemporary Ceramic Practice in 2011. I've recently completed an MA in Contemporary Art and Archaeology at the University of Highlands and Islands"
Jules Dixon - jeweller 'Scrappoworks'
Jules is a local artist living in the wilds of north Cumbria.
Gaining her B.A. honours degree from Birmingham college of art and design, she creates jewellery from silver and other precious metals that are destined to be scrapped and melted down.
Broken earrings, odd cutlery, chains in fact anything that has no further use in it's present from. The sort of things left hidden away at the bottom of a drawer, unloved and abandoned . . Jules will intercept and recycle into wearable creations. Her jewellery becomes a focal talking point and hopefully loved once more.
Precious jewellery that really doesn't cost the Earth !!
